For most VAILO Adelaide 500 event goers, the first question asked about the event is “Who is playing at the concerts?”.

Despite the annual event being geared around motorsport, many people attend to enjoy the event’s party and social atmosphere with a side of racing.

That is because there is plenty to do away from the track – and the after-race concerts are just the start.

CONCERTS

10 acts will perform over 3 nights at the Concert Oval at King Rodney Park, located next to Brock Straight, and the variety of artists brought on to the bill ensures there’s something for everyone.

Popstar Robbie Williams, rock legends Icehouse and international DJs Carl Cox and Eric Powell will turn the race precinct into a musical hot spot as the sun goes down, each headlining a night of the after-race concert series.

Each will also be joined by at least three support acts, with the music kicking off at about 6pm each night.

Entry to the concerts is included with a VAILO Adelaide 500 ticket valid for the day, whether it is general admission or a grandstand ticket. However, if you’re stuck at work until 5pm or have other weekend commitments, you can still enter the precinct just as the concerts start.

GARDEN BARS & GOURMET FOOD

You’re spoiled for choice when it comes to food and beverages. With several precincts set up around the circuit, you can sit back and relax with your mates while enjoying some food and drinks and not see a minute of the racing.

If you’re after traditional sports-event food such as pies and pasties, Vili’s has you covered, but if you want to up the ante a little, local food trucks will serve everything from Mac & Cheese to Moroccan Moorish Bites. They’ll be located next to the TrAction Zone.

Of course, the concert oval will have a range of food and beverage available to keep you going through the night, including Senor Taco’s Mexican flavours. In total, there are more than 70 food and drink vendors located around the VAILO Adelaide 500 precinct.

The Gold Zone for grandstand ticketholders can be similar to Adelaide Oval’s Village Green during the cricket. Shaded seating on the grass and food trucks including Moi An Viet Street Food and Squid Squad Seafood provide a social atmosphere behind the Pit Straight Grandstand.

However, if you do want to feel a little motor-sporty while indulging in premium beverages, exclusive food choices and acoustic music, check out the Monochrome GT Village. It is located in the heart of the feature race paddock for Porsche and GT race cars, where mechanics work on the vehicles between practice, qualifying and races, and is accessible to all ticketholders.

The Garden Bar also has a view over a premium part of the track, at Turn 11, although ticketholders may be so busy enjoying the live DJ tunes as they catch up with friends that they hardly will glance in that direction. The shared hospitality experience offers exclusive entry and amenities in a lush green garden setting to those who purchase the ticket package, which includes a gourmet BBQ and buy-as-you-go bar, although a bar tab is available for friends or work groups to set up first then relax the day away together.

Last tickets are also available for many other shared hospitality suites, including the new Piper-Heidsieck Club Eleven facility that overlooks Turns 10, 11 and 12. It also has a live DJ, all-day menu and a drinks package included.

SHOW RIDES FOR KIDS

After the kids have done all the rides in the HomeStart Family Zone, there may not be any time left in the day to anything else. Plus, they’ll be too tuckered out!

The things they can do here include jumping on the bouncy castles, finding their way through Wacky Shack and slipping down the giant slide.

To take a break from playtime, head across for a spin on the Golden North Ferris Wheel, located in the nearby TrAction Zone, where kids and parents alike can also watch on in awe of the Airtime FMX motorcycle riders as they make seemingly death-defying stunts on two wheels.

Kids aged 12 and under even enter the VAILO Adelaide 500 for free when accompanying a full-paying adult, and once inside, enjoy these attractions at no extra cost.

HELICOPTER SCENIC FLIGHTS

For an extra cost, you can experience the Supercars event in a way like no other – from the air!

A helicopter scenic flight over the precinct is a great way to get a birds-eye view of the race track as well as across to the Adelaide Hills and the coast.

To book, visit the pilots at the landing pad next to the Kindig Custom Car Show near Gate 11.

The VAILO Adelaide 500 will be held November 23-26, 2023. Tickets are on sale now at Ticketek with general admission free for kids 12 and under with a paying adult.
