S5000 Australian Drivers Championship

The S5000 cars are the fastest in Australian circuit racing, and the drivers are contesting both the Australian Drivers’ Championship and Motorsport Australia Gold Star – the oldest and most prestigious drivers’ title in the nation.

Powered by thunderous 5.2-litre V8 engines which produce 560bhp and speeds of up to 300kph, S5000 is the modern successor to the legendary Formula 5000 category, which captured the hearts and minds of Australian motor racing fans throughout the 1970s.

In S5000, everyone has the same machinery meaning it’s up to the talent behind the wheel and the teams preparing the cars to generate the results.

Aaron Cameron made his way into the history books in 2022 by setting the quickest ever lap recorded on the current Adelaide Parklands circuit.

Cameron’s 1m15.4972s came on his 14th lap of 16 in a compelling 20-minute session.
