The field of Porsche 911 GT3 Cup (Type 992) race cars may look the same but there is always something different to enjoy when these sleek machines take to the Adelaide street circuit.
The Cup cars are based on the 992 generation road car but pack a punch, with the current version producing about 510 horsepower, exceeding the previous Type 911 version by 25 horsepower.
Drivers compete in the category in one of two classes. The Pro class is for experienced drivers who are hoping for - or already have - a professional racing career. The Pro-Am class is for semi-professional race car drivers, including many business leaders, who can unleash their passion for racing sport cars.
In 2023, both titles were clinched at Adelaide’s final race of the year, which began with a championship-ending crash at the chicane for Pro class contender Jackson Walls that handed the glory to Callum Hedge. Pro-Am honours went to Adrian Flack.
The VAILO Adelaide 500 will be the final event for the category for the second year in a row after a long history of it beginning its championship on the streets of Adelaide.
