ON THE GROUND
Making its exciting debut at Defence Corner, near Turn 11, will be Army’s new National Advanced Surface-to-Air Missile System (NASAMS) from 16 Regiment, Royal Australian Artillery, based at Woodside Barracks. NASAMS is the Australian Defence Force’s newly acquired short-range, ground based air defence system that delivers an enhanced force protection capability against airborne threats such as aircraft, uncrewed aerial systems and cruise missiles.
The impressive NASAMS kit on static display will include a Canister Launcher, a High Mobility Launcher and an electro-optic infrared sensor system.
For aviation enthusiasts, an array of high-tech Air Force equipment from nearby RAAF Base Edinburgh will be on show, including a Mobile Aircraft Arrestor System – a mechanical device used to rapidly deaccelerate aircraft in the case of an emergency landing. Also on display will be an Air Force G-Wagon Ambulance, a deployable communications satellite and a cyber operator stand, with Air Force cyber analysts ready to demonstrate the type of activities conducted and tools used in cyber defence.
IN THE AIR
All eyes will be on the skies again this year when Air Force revs it up above the Adelaide parklands in a display of power and precision.
From Friday to Sunday, the popular Air Force Roulettes team will perform their synchronised moves in a PC-21 aerobatics display, while an F/A-18F Super Hornet will thrill the crowds with a spectacular fast-jet handling display on racing weekend.
