We are in serving up a treat at this year’s event with the racing set to unfold on a newly resurfaced track.
Shane van Gisbergen was in town as the first driver to drive and inspect the new surface and is excited for the Supercars to return to the streets of Adelaide this December. “It is a completely new surface, it looks beautiful and we can’t wait to race here in a couple of months time.”
Fresh off extending his Championship lead, the race this December could see van Gisbergen take home his third Repco Supercars Championship, the ultimate farewell to the Holden Commodore in Supercars racing.
“It will be a different feeling being the Championship finale, the drivers will be more race fit, but the biggest thing for us is seeing the enthusiasm in town already, seeing how much the people of Adelaide have missed the race and how excited they are for it to return”
More than 70% of the track has been resurfaced – from the braking zone at Turn 9 through to the entry of Turn 7 – where it is expected that competitors and spectators could see the fastest lap times in events history.
